Closest to My Heart

What is the most precious item in your life? The one thing that you cannot do without. The thing in life you value the most. This question does leave some room for interpretation. There is no wrong interpretation. Please answer with what pops into your head first. Please do not over think it!
Well, because it said the first thing that popped into my head, I’d have to say, track and field. Though it may sound a little weird, I can’t imagine my life without this sport. It’s just something I absolutely love to do, and in many ways, it’s brought my family closer together. I know my sister will always be there to tell me to “use my hips” or to “get my head up” while throwing, and I think that the companionship that I’ve formed with my sister is what makes me value the sport so much. I know it’s something I couldn’t live without because when I’m on vacation, or just haven’t thrown in a while, I have a strong want to throw. I suppose it’s because it calms my nerves, and because I’m good at it.
I want to be…

We all want to change who we are sometimes…. and this is what I want to be.
So this is the real world??

New rumors each day, your best-friend becomes your worst enemy, and you never get away from the drama.
Yes, this place does exsist, infact we all deal with it in our lifetimes. It’s called middle school. Sure, we will deal with all this later on in our lives, but is it fair to be dealing with it now? When we’re young, we’re supposed to be having fun… not watching our back to make sure our friends aren’t talking about us. I just recently went through all this drama and I couldn’t take it. Let’s just say, people turned out to be very different from who I thought they were. Thankfully, I was able to work it out, and I didn’t lose a strong friendship.
Although you can be mad at someone, you shouldn’t hold a grudge. You’ll probably need this person to help you out in the long run and it’s better to have a few real friends rather then a large amount of fake ones. Quantity isn’t really what you want in this case… you should be looking for quality. Nothing can state my point better then the golden rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. And if someone feels the need to say things about you that are obviously not true, they aren’t a good friend, and it just makes it worse when it’s behind your back.
When you talk about someone, you can’t say that you never thought the person would hear it. If you didn’t want the person to hear what you said about them, you never would have said it. Just because people can promise that they won’t tell, it doesn’t mean they won’t. Sometimes the promises are just as fake as the person making them.
Then there’s another type of friend. A ‘friend’ that claims to be there for you, and stick up for you, but all they do is tear you down. I have friends that do this too. Although the things they say bother me, I don’t let them get to me. That’s probably the best advice I could give to anyone. If you know what they’re saying isn’t true, then don’t sweat it… things will blow over in time and you won’t be the bad person. The person who started the rumors will.
All in all, I don’t think it’s fair for all this to be going on. Friend pitted against friend each day… it’s dog eat dog here in middle school. Your parents will always tell you “Oh… it’s not that bad…” but they’re not the ones going through it each day. If the real world is anything like middle school, then it’s time we make some changes.
Changing the world….

Today in history… in the year 1960 the Benelux treaty came into effect.
The treaty was formed and signed in 1944 but it wasn’t offically put into effect unil November 1st, 1960. Benelux means, Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg. It was the first entirely free international labor market. The treaty was formed and signed in 1944 but it wasn’t offically put into effect unil November 1st, 1960. The union between these countries was established promote free movement of workers, capital, goods, and services within the region. It’s goal of merging the fisical and monetary systems of the countries wasn’t fufilled until 2002 when most of the EU nations replaced their currencies with the Euro.

For my blog, I decided to email my mom. She works at DnB. She’s worked there for almost 26 years, and I just realized that I have no clue what she does everyday. I asked her, “What exactly is your company all about? For example, what do you guys do, and what’s your job title and description?” Her reponse is as follows; We are a credit and marketing solution company. We sell credit and marketing solutions to businesses. I’m an excutive assitant to the Vice President of the Middle Market Customers.
After hearing her description on her job and her company I thought what she was very interesting. My guess is, she found it amusing that I had no idea what she even does for a living, I just know who her bosses are and complain when she has to go on buisness trips. All in all, in my opinion, her job sounds pretty cool to me.
It’s not supposed to go like that…

Being a such a die hard New York Yankees fan I decided to search ‘blogs + New York Yankees’ for my latest blog post. The blog that I came upon was shocking, because this is the first time I hear anything of this. The blog post was about Matthew Wasser, 22, from New Jersey. He was going to graduate from the College of New Jersey in December 2007. Unfortunately, early Sunday morning (October 21st) was a passenger a cab that was hit by a driver that was under the influence of alcohol. I was utterly shocked when I heard about this. Matt was not a player for the Yankees, he was working in media relations but I didn’t hear anything about this. I don’t believe that it’s fair that his life was taken from him so early, when he was going to be very successful.
“The New York Yankees are saddened to announce the passing of media relations department intern Matthew Wasser, 22, who passed away tragically early Sunday morning in Waltham, Mass., as a passenger in a cab hit by a person charged with operating under the influence of alcohol.”
This quote describes exactly what occured. When I read this, I was instantly reminded of Rascal Flatts song, “It’s Not Supposed To Go Like That” because I don’t find it fair that his life was taken so soon.
The comment I left is;
Wow, all I can say is wow. I heard nothing about this and now that I have I feel terrible. I don’t find it fair that his life was taken away from him so suddenly. Matthew Wasser had a bright future ahead of him and now he has nothing. My prayers are with him.
My prayers are with the Wasser family.
A Picoo Z?
October 18, 2007
While searching for a information on a ‘picolo’, I forgot to place the ‘l’ in the word. I google searched and I found a wikipedia article about a Picoo Z. A Picoo Z is is a miniature remote-controlled 2 channel micro helicopter. They are manufactured in Hong Kong based Silverlit Toys. The Picoo Z currently holds the Guniess record for the smallest remote-controlled helicopter ever built. It was designed by Belgian Alexander Van de Rostyne. It weighs only 10 grams, and it is only 170mm long. Charging takes 20-30 minutes, that gives the Picoo Z a flight time of about 5-7 minutes. It is sold for about $20 to $40.
The Picoo Z was released in the summer of 2006.
I thought it was interesting to read about this, because I had never heard of anything like it before. Although it came out recently, I still heard nothing of the Picoo Z.
Blog Action Day
October 18, 2007
For blog action day, I decided to write about the importance of recycling. Recycling is an easy way to help save the enviorment. Instead of throwing away cans and bottles, you could just place them in the different bin. Almost all garbage companies have special bins that will be taken to a recycling plant. If you do not have a garbage company taking your garbage away for you, there are machines at your local Stop and Shop and WalMarts. These machines break down the cans and bottles and employees take them to a recycling plant.
If you throw out the plastic can holder, while on the garbage barges, they can fall off. If they are not cut up or broken down, bottle nosed dolphins can get themselves caught in them.
By recycling, we produce less waste. And we all start to recycle, we could convince power plants and companys that is wrong to let all those toxic fumes out. They are causing holes in the ozone layer. We all need to do our part to make our community a better place to live in.
Podcast Blog

For my podcast, I listened to a podcast on the Disney Cruise Line. This really interested me because I love DCL. I listened to the podcast here. The one I listened to was, Disney Cruise Line Arrives In Europe, Begins First-Ever Mediterranean Cruises. This also interested me because my family was deciding if we should take the next set of cruises to the Mediterranean. I couldn’t find where to leave a comment on the website, so I wrote a review on itunes; I really liked this podcast. It helped me and my family decide whether or not we would like to cruise to the Med. We love Disney, and we’ve been waiting for the cruise lines to sail to Europe. I thought it was insightfull, and it was easy to understand.
All in all, I really enjoyed this podcast… and it was easy for me to understand.
Obstacles…
September 30, 2007
What are the greatest obstacles to the fulfillment of my dreams and goals?
My goal for this year, is to hopefully brake the girls’ shot put and discus records at my school. I worked hard last year, and I missed the shot record by one foot! Like all dreams and goals, obstacles get in the way. When I go to important meets, I ‘physc’ myself out of throwing well. When I watch warm-ups, I always think that everyone will throw farther than me. I realize that this is just a problem that I need to solve. I work on this by listening to music before I throw to get away from everything that’s going on. Other obstacles that can get in the way when I throw is the competition. Some girls attempt to get in your face, and try to make you think they’re better then they actually are. One of my favorite quotes is, “If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Michael Jordan, in my opinion, one of the best basketball players of all time said that. He showed me that even though obstacles get in the way of what you want, you need to keep working to overcome those obstacles. It also showed me that, nothing you want in life will come easily and you need to work towards your goals.
